Like many other churches we have our main services on a Sunday morning. While far from the only thing we do, these times together are really important to us as a church community. Below is some more information which may be useful to get a flavour of what we do on a Sunday when we meet together.

As a church we hunger to be a people who lift up Jesus with every part of our lives.  We recognise Jesus as the King of Kings and we want our times together to be about the proclaiming of that.  We therefore put value on worshipping Him.
We have a team of people who lead our worship at the Rock. Therefore the style of songs can change week to week with some of our leaders being more reflective and others more anthemic. However, they all have the same worship God.

In the summer of 2016 a few of us had some conversations around different aspects of worship.  These were unscripted and full of interesting reflections around what it means for us to worship together as a church community.  We edited these longer conversations down into bitesized chunks so that we could use them as cataylsts for us as a whole congregation to think about worshipping together. We originally used them as part of our services through the second half of 2016 but have made them available here for those who would like to rewatch them and think about the points raised.

Part of our purpose in meeting on a Sunday is to spend some time learning together about Jesus and the call to follow Him.  We recognise that different people learn in different ways. Therefore, we do our teaching and learning in a number of different ways.  Below are some of the different formats we use for our time together.

Most Sundays the kids will go out to Sunday School and the adults  will have a bit of teaching, 20-40 mins, from one of the teaching team.  Whoever is teaching that Sunday will unpack an idea or a bit of the Bible with us and help us dig a bit deeper into the journey of faith.

Generally the last Sunday of every month, although we don't always stick to that pattern, we have an all age service.  There's no Sunday School and we're all in together.  The rule book goes out the window and we get creative. Expect the unexpected.

Some weeks instead of one of the teaching team standing up and talking we'll do things a little differently.  We may have discussion in groups or a debate or watch a film or something completely different.

Kids are more than welcome at the Rock.  We want to be a church where people of all ages can be part of the adventure which God calls us into.  There are a variety of things we do on a Sunday morning especially with kids in mind.  See the info below.

For the first half an hour of our service the kids stay in with the adults and we join together to worship God.  We try and do this in ways our kids can join in.  Sometimes we'll have musical instruments for them, specially selected songs or art activities.

After half an hour our preschool kids go to Rockets where a couple of our kids team will lead a fun packed session which includes story telling, games, play and maybe even a snack time.

After half an hour our primary school aged kids go to Junior Church where a couple of our kids team will lead a fun packed session which includes story telling, games, challenges, quizzes and art.
