House Groups

House Groups are weekly or fortnightly groups who generally meet in people's homes.  They are spaces to study the Bible together, support one another, pray together, challenge one another, and grow as followers of Jesus together.

Each group works slightly differently, some are groups of people who live in a certain area (e.g we have a house group in Helensburgh) while others are people with a certain interest (e.g. we have a group of artists and creatives who explore faith together.)

They meet on different nights of the week and in different places, so get in touch if you want to know a bit more.

First

On the first of every month we meet to pray together.  The Bible talks about seeking the things of God as our first priority, so we start the first day of the month focussing on our first priority.

We normally meet 8-9pm in someone's home and spend some time worshipping God and then praying together about a range of things, everything from thanking God for answered prayers to praying for other local churches to praying for friends and family going through tough situations to big international events.  We believe God listens to our prayers.

WORSHIP CIRCLE

Our musicians meet periodically throughout the year to worship together but also to learn new songs and grow and develop as worship leaders.

SOCIAL EVENTS

We believe part of being church is celebrating life together.  Throughout the year we run a range of social events where we can enjoy each others company and grow as friends and family.

DEEPER

Throughout the year we try and create some space for those who want to dig a bit deeper theologically.  This has taken different forms down the years from short courses on the narrative of the Bible to discussion groups on tough questions like suffering.

SCHOOL CHAPLAINCY

Our pastor, Oli Higham, supports Dumbarton Academy and Dalreoch Primary School through chaplaincy.  This involves taking assemblies, spending time in class supporting learning, and supporting the school community in difficult moments such as bereavements.

THE PHOENIX

We also run a community hub in Dumbarton West.  The Phoenix provides youth work, community cafe, toddler groups, fitness classes, community meals, intergenerational events, art clubs, and a whole range of other events, groups and activities.

INTERNATIONAL PROJECTS

Alongside want to love our local community we also recognise that we are part of a global community.  We are involved with three international charities who we try and support.  We raise money for them and various members of the church have direct involvement with these charities.  We support the work of Embrace the Middle East and the work they do across the middle east supporting those facing the consequences of the wars and conflicts that cover that area.  We also support the work of Grassroots Trust who work across Europe, Africa and Asia alleviating poverty and facilitating child sponsorship programmes.  We also work with Comfort International.  This has been our longest international relationship, with many in the church having visited Rwanda and DRC and directly supporting communities as they recover from the horrors of genocide and civil war.
